Grilled Asparagus with Lemon (Printer-Friendly)

Tender asparagus grilled with olive oil, sea salt, and fresh lemon for a simple, elegant side dish.

# What You'll Need:

→ Vegetables

01 - 1 lb fresh asparagus, trimmed

→ Oil & Seasoning

02 - 2 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil
03 - ½ tsp flaky sea salt
04 - ¼ tsp freshly ground black pepper

→ Garnish

05 - 1 lemon, cut into wedges

# How to Prepare:

01 - Preheat your grill to medium-high heat (400°F).
02 - Rinse and trim woody ends from the asparagus spears.
03 - Place asparagus on a tray. Drizzle with olive oil and toss to coat evenly.
04 - Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
05 - Arrange asparagus in a single layer on the grill grates perpendicular to prevent slipping through, or use a grill basket.
06 - Grill for 3–5 minutes per side, turning occasionally, until tender and lightly charred.
07 - Transfer to a serving platter. Squeeze fresh lemon juice over the asparagus and serve with extra lemon wedges.

# Expert Advice:

01 -
  • It turns ordinary asparagus into something extraordinary with minimal effort
  • The charred flavor and bright lemon make people forget they are eating something healthy
02 -
  • Thick asparagus spears work better on the grill than pencil thin ones which can dry out too quickly
  • Arranging the spears perpendicular to the grates prevents them from falling through and makes them much easier to flip
03 -
  • Let the grilled asparagus rest for a couple of minutes before serving so the flavors settle and it is not too hot to eat
  • If you are using a grill basket give it a quick shake halfway through instead of turning each spear individually
